LI Web Tech
started in 1985 as a BBS or
Bulletin Board System under the name of "PDSLO" or "Public
Domain Software Library Online". It quickly became one of the
largest download bbs's or file repositories on the east coast.
In 1988 the company changed it's name to "House Of Files" since it was
the place to go to download program, game and image files. In 1990
it started to get involved in the
internet, providing basic connectivity, shell access and usenet
news. In 1992 the company began offering Usenet news via a
satellite downlink feed to provide uncensored and unlimited newsgroup
reading. At that same time House Of Files began to
get involved in the basic web site design and very simple
hosting.
In 1995 House Of Files moved to its current
location in Hicksville, New York and began to offer dialup
access for internet users. BBS's started dying off
quickly as the internet became known to the general public and
with all that interest the internet flourished with thousands of
new websites going online every week all around the world.
In 1997 the company began offering complex
hosting, working with databases, e-commerce, dynamic
websites and many other new resources available to web
designers. As it began to offer these new things to the
hosting community House Of Files also
started to design websites using these same features.
In 2001, it became a dedicated
hosting and web design business, partnering
with dozens of small web designers around the metro New York
area and began to grow very quickly.
In 2005 House Of Files reorganized and a new company was formed.
